WebJul 13, 2024 · Take Sharpie pen and mark just where the pushrod comes out of the boot. Watch and measure whilst your assistant depresses the clutch pedal. Should be about 5/8". Yes the MC can fail w/o leaking... that little seal at the reservoir end is a check valve that keeps the piston from just pushing fluid back into the reservoir. WebUnless you have misunderstood the meaning of disengage, there is nothing wrong here. With the cable disconnected, the clutch will be engaged. Pulling the clutch lever (and therefore the pulling on the cable) is what disengages the clutch. So, of course the clutch won't disengage when the cable is disconnected.

It won't be much but some movement should be visible. If that checks out, then you need to break the clutch plates free. In neutral gear, warm the engine until you have two bars showing. Then shut the bike off.
