Web1 de dez. de 2004 · The northern bettong (Bettongia tropica), a small mycophagous potoroid inhabiting fire-prone wood- land in northeastern Australia (Winter & Johnson 1995), utilizes at least 35 hypogeous fungal taxa (Vernes et al. 2001) which comprise 33–67% of its diet depending on season and habitat (Johnson & McIlwee 1997, Vernes et al. 2001). All species of the bettong are nocturnal. They carry nesting materials with their long tails and can be found in burrows that they escape to during the day. They like to feed at night and their range of food varies. They rarely drink water, and refrain from eating any green plants.
